Andrea and Charles Bronfman Student Awards in Israeli Studies

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be an undergraduate or graduate student in the Faculty of Arts and Science who is traveling to Israel for study or research, or who is pursuing study or research related to Israel (in Canada). Undergraduate students must be in their third or fourth year of study; minimum CGPA for consideration is 2.50.
  • Students may apply for either travel or non-travel awards. Preference will be given to requests for travel support.
  • Financial need will be considered. Undergraduate students must demonstrate financial need by qualifying for OSAP for the fall-winter sessions in which the application is made. Graduate students must demonstrate financial need by qualifying for OSAP or by submitting a Financial Needs Assessment Form for the fall-winter sessions in which the application is made.
  • Please note: international students are not eligible.

Value:

  • Travel awards: To be determined on the basis of estimated costs (see below)
  • Non travel awards: Graduate Students - $1,500, Undergraduate Students - $500
  • Travel awards are paid at the time of travel after students have completed a Safety Abroad Workshop and registered with the Safety Abroad Office (this can take up to one month)
  • Non-travel awards are paid after re-registration in the next fall session at the University of Toronto

Applications are composed of 6 parts that must be submitted together. Please ensure applications are complete upon submission. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

    2. One-page statement outlining the student's program of study and/or research interests.
    3. Curriculum vitae.
    4. Detailed breakdown of estimated costs (travel awards only).
    5. One-page letter of support from a University of Toronto faculty member (must be submitted in a sealed envelope with the application).
    6. Copy of the applicant's OSAP assessment (undergraduate/graduate students) or a Financial Needs Assessment Form (graduate students).
