Canadian Friends of Hebrew University Fund Award


Eligibility Criteria:

  • Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible.
  • Reserved for students undertaking a course, research or other academic endeavor in collaboration with The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, during the summer of 2018.
  • On a pilot basis in 2017-18, all students registered in programs of study on the St. George campus -- including faculties outside of Arts & Science -- are eligible to apply.
  • The Arts & Science CHFU award is open to both International students and domestic students.


  • Applicants may not hold an Arts & Science CFHU award in combination with other awards for the same course/research or project.
  • Applicants must have obtained approval to study at Hebrew University in the Summer of 2018 - either via a Letter of Permission from their home faculty or via an activity (ie exchange program) administered by the Centre for International Experience

Permissions to study abroad:

  • Centre for International Experience (CIE):  Note that the deadline has passed for students to apply for summer exchanges and activities organized by CIE.   However, students who have been approved for a CIE exchange to Hebrew University in the summer of 2018 and who have not applied for funding may be considered for this award.  Students who have missed the CIE deadline to apply for summer activities should request a Letter of Permission from their home faculty.

  • Letter of Permission:  Students should consult with their home faculty/division to confirm their processes and deadlines to request Letters of Permission to study at Hebrew University during the summer of 2018.


  • The value and total number of individual awards will be determined annually by the committee. Prior awards have been in the range of $1,000 - $6,000.


  • CFHU awards are paid at the time of travel after students have completed a Safety Abroad Workshop and have registered with the Safety Abroad Office (the registration process can take up to one month).
