 Asia Pacific - Dr. David Chu Scholarship in Asia Pacific Studies

Amount Variable

  • Awarded to students who are pursuing studies or research related to the Asia Pacific region
  • Only students receiving OSAP (or Ontario residents demonstrating financial need) are eligible
  • Applications will be available in January 2019
  • Individual award values are variable

 

Any Destination - Walter and Mary Tuohy Award in Arts and Science

Amount Variable

  • Awarded to students who are undertaking a period of study at an international post-secondary institution or pursuing international field work in conjunction with their U of T program
  • Reserved for undergraduates receiving OSAP student loans (or Ontario residents demonstrating financial need)
  • Applications will be available in January 2019
  • Individual award values are variable

 

Any Destination - Undergraduate Research Fund 

Amount Variable

  • Awarded to students doing research initiated by the student, related to their degree, and supervised by a faculty member either through a course, an independent study, a research essay or other academic project
  • Applications will be available in November 2018 
  • Individual award values are variable

 

Germany - Joint Initiative in German and European Studies

Amount Variable

  • Awarded to students intending to study abroad
  • Only students receiving OSAP (or Ontario residents demonstrating financial need) are eligible
  • Apply to the director of the Joint Initiative in German and European Studies Program

 

Hungary - Szechenyi Society Inc. Undergraduate Scholarship in Hungarian Studies

Amount Variable

  • Awarded to students intending to study abroad
  • Students must be currently enrolled in at least one Hungarian studies course
  • Only students receiving OSAP (or Ontario residents demonstrating financial need) are eligible
  • Apply to Hungarian Studies Department

 

Hungary - Husky Energy Hungarian Student Exchange Program

Amount Variable

  • Awarded to students intending to study abroad
  • Students must be currently enrolled in at least one Hungarian studies course
  • Financial need will be considered
  • Apply to Hungarian Studies Department 

 

Israel - Andrea and Charles Bronfman Student Awards in Israeli Studies

Amount Variable

  • Preference is given to students travelling to Israel for study or research, however, students who are pursuing study or research related to Israel in Canada are also eligible
  • Applications will be available in January 2019 
  • Individual award values are variable

 

Israel - Canadian Friends of The Hebrew University Awards 

Amount Variable

  • Awarded to students undertaking a course, research or other academic endeavour in collaboration with the Hebrew University
  • Must be a full-time student
  • Students that receive financial aid (OSAP) should apply through CIE
  • Students who are not receiving OSAP student loans are eligible to apply for this award through the Office of the Faculty Registrar, Faculty of Arts & Science.

  • Students receiving OSAP student loans should contact the Centre for International Experience regarding their application process.

  • Applications will be available in January 2019
  • Individual award values are variable

 

Italy - The First Milton A. Buchanan Scholarship in Italian Studies

 $1,500 for one term, $3,000 for two terms

  • Awarded to students in their second year enrolled in a program offered by the Department of Italian Studies who will be spending one or two terms at a University in Italy as part of the Study Elsewhere. 
  • Apply to the Department of Italian Studies by May 1

 

Italy – The Second Milton A. Buchanan Scholarship in Italian Studies

$1,000

  • Awarded to students attending the University of Toronto Summer Program in Siena
  • All students enrolled in an Italian course in Siena will be considered for the award
  • Applications will be on the Italian Studies website
  • Individual award values are variable
  •  

    Japan -Bento Sushi Foundation Scholarship 

    $5,000

    • Preference is given to domestic, Rotman Commerce students who have demonstrated a new interest in Japan
    • Apply through Summer Abroad Program

     

    Russia - Nancy Park Travel Scholarship to Russia

    Amount Variable

    • Recipient must have completed, or is currently enrolled in, a third year Russian language course or equivalent
    • Awarded to students whose undergraduate program includes at least one joint graduate/undergraduate course
    • The recipient must undertake an internship in Russia, for a minimum of six weeks with a total stay in Russia of at least 10 weeks
    • Apply to the Department of Slavic Languages and Literature by January 15

     

    Spanish Speaking Country - Doris May Barker Scholarships

    $2,000+

    • Awarded to students studying in the winter or summer session in a Spanish-speaking country
    • Preference is given to students who are enrolled in a specialist or major program in Spanish on the St. George campus
    • Only students receiving OSAP (or Ontario residents demonstrating financial need) are eligible
    • Apply to the Department of Spanish and Portuguese by April 1 

     

    Spain, Portugal, Latin America - Milton A. Buchanan Scholarship in Spanish and Portuguese

     $1,500 for one term, $3,000 for two terms

    • Awarded to students in their second year enrolled in a program offered by the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies
    • Applicants must have completed at least two full course equivalents in Spanish and/or Portuguese with a B average or better
    • Students will be spending one or two terms at a University. Student Exchange Program, Self-Designed Program and Woodsworth College Summer Program are all eligible 
    • Apply to the Department of Spanish and Portuguese by April 1
