International Opportunities (do not use)

In the Faculty of Arts & Science, one of our goals is to provide a broad range of international opportunities to promote students’ understanding of and engagement with the world around them.

  • The Research Excursions: 398H0/399Y0 Courses offer both local and international opportunities for students to work on research with individual faculty members.
  • International Course Modules provide a short, intensive international experience embedded in an existing course.
  • The University of Toronto Summer Abroad program offers full-credit Arts & Science courses that integrate the location into the academic content of the course.
  • Science Abroad provides science students with the opportunity to complete a research course at one of several prestigious research facilities overseas. Students will collaborate with colleagues from other countries, and explore problems of a global nature.
  • The Centre for International Experience offers international student exchange opportunities at more than 100 partner universities around the world.
  • The Faculty’s Germany/Europe Fund promotes innovative programming, course-based enrichments or research initiatives that support faculty — as well as undergraduate and graduate student — activities with a clear German/European component. Examples of such activities for undergraduate students might include individual student travel to conferences or support for student internships or independent research. Proposals must be approved and submitted by a department chair/unit head or designate.
  • The Deans’ International Initiatives Fund supports creative and innovative international activities in areas of need not already addressed by existing programming such as Research Excursions, International Course Modules and the Germany/Europe Fund. Projects are encouraged from both students and faculty, but faculty supervision must always be provided.
  • There are also hundreds of A&S courses that study the language, history, culture, politics and other phenomena of almost every part of the world. For complete course listings visit the Arts & Science Calendar.
