A&S February 2018 E-News: Prepping for Program & Summer Enrolment

What’s Coming Up?

As we head into Reading Week, here are a few deadlines to keep in mind:

  • February 19: Family Day – the University is closed. The libraries, athletic facilities and student centres may offer reduced hours. Check their websites for details.
  • February 20 - 23: Reading Week – no classes but the University will remain open.
  • February 20: Last day to cancel Y section courses without academic penalty and the last day to add or remove credit/no credit options for Y section courses.
  • February 21: Check ACORN for your T4A and T2022A tax slips.
  • February 26: The April exam schedule will be released. Be sure to check that you don’t have any exam conflicts.
  • March 1: Deadline for students who may need accommodations for the April 2018 final exam period. New students must submit a completed intake package and returning students must auto renew.
  • March 1: Summer course enrolment begins. You can start your planning – the summer timetable is posted.
  • March 1: Program enrolment begins. You will receive more information from the Office of the Faculty Registrar shortly.

February 15: The Department of Medical Biophysics is currently accepting applications for the 2018 Summer Student Program. Apply before February 15th.

February 16: Apply for the Edwin S.H. Leong Scholarship before February 16. The scholarship is a new admission award for international students pursuing research stream master’s or doctoral studies, which offers scholarships of $55,000.

February 23: Open call deadline to submit your science-inspired art to the gallery at Science Rendezvous. Science Rendezvous is a Canada‐wide festival that spurs interest in scientific research and attracts over 30,000 guests.

February 28: Through the Reach Project, interdisciplinary teams of student researchers spread out around the world, rigorously documenting development initiatives that have proven successful at reaching the hard to reach. Apply before February 28.

March 11: Are you interested in working on a prof’s research project for a 299Y or 399Y credit? Don’t miss the deadline for the Research Opportunity Program.

March 15: Don’t miss this deadline to apply for one of several Faculty of Arts & Science Student Awards/Scholarships.

March 15: Deadline for submissions to the Dr. David Chu Program in Asia-Pacific Studies’ Reimagining the Asia-Pacific Photo Contest.
