Subject POSt Enrolment: Computer Science

St. George campus, Arts & Science students are required to enrol in subject POSt(s) at the end of the session in which they complete their fourth full-course equivalent. Students can only enrol in subject POSts offered on the St. George campus.

You must enrol in the minimum appropriate combination of subject POSts for your degree before your course enrolment period starts, or you will be prevented from enrolling in courses on ROSI.

If you intend to complete the Honours Bachelor of Arts or Honours Bachelor of Science (Hon. B.A. or Hon. B.Sc.) degree, you must be enrolled in either one specialist, two majors, or one major + two minors. Please note that you can enrol in no more than three subject POSts, of which only two can be majors or specialists.

Students finishing first-year

Students offered guaranteed admission to computer science

Students who were admitted to the University of Toronto for the 2012-2013 Fall/Winter session and were offered guaranteed admission to computer science still need to enrol in the computer science subject POSt on the SWS, whether the major or the specialist. Follow the procedure described below.

Students not offered guaranteed admission to computer science

A number of spaces in computer science programs will be available to students not offered guaranteed admission. Follow the procedures below to submit a request for a computer science subject POSt.

How and when to request a computer science subject POSt

The Computer Science subject POSts (major and specialist) are Type 1S programs. They do not have requirements for entry into the program other than successful completion of 4.0 full-course equivalents. No application is required.

To enrol, log on to the SWS at www.rosi.utoronto.ca and select “subject POSts” from the main menu. Select “add a subject POSt” and enter the subject code:

  • ASMAJ1689 for the Major in Computer Science
  • ASSPE1689 for the Specialist in Computer Science

After you confirm the addition, the SWS will display the message: "You have successfully add the following subject POSts", and will list the subject POSt code and title. The status field will read "ACTIVE – You are enrolled in this subject POSt" if the enrolment was successful. If the enrolment was not successful, you will see the message: "A problem was encountered" with details about the error.

  • The following enrolment dates apply to the Computer Science subject POSts:
  • July 2 - first day to enrol on the SWS
  • September 22 - last day to enrol on the SWS

IMPORTANT NOTES

Students enrolled in a computer science subject POSt pay higher fees. See Academic Fees for Commerce, Computer Science, Bioinformatics & Computational Biology, or Concurrent Teacher Education Subject POSts for details.

The Computer Science Minor is not subject to deregulated program fees. It is a Type 1 program. For information on enrolment, see the instructions for Type 1 subject POSts.

Note that students enrolled in a Computer Science Minor are permitted to enrol in a maximum of 1.5 300+ level CSC courses only. Students enrolled in more than the maximum 1.5 300+ level CSC courses will be removed at any time this is discovered.

If you are registered in the 2013 Summer session, and accept an invitation to a computer science subject POSt during the summer or later, your fees in the 2013 Summer session will be affected. See Academic Fees for Commerce, Computer Science, Bioinformatics & Computational Biology, or Concurrent Teacher Education Subject POSts for details.
